Event Description

2017 GEM Annual Board Meeting & Conference
"Maximizing the Value of the Consortium"
September 7-9, 2017
New York City, New York

A prestigious forum for stimulating debate on bold solutions to advance graduate education, the 2017 Annual Board Meeting & Conference creates a platform to raise nationwide awareness of its mission, partners, and Fellows.  This is the “must attend” event in 2017 for advocates who want to transform how the United States educates and prepares engineering and science talent for advanced leadership careers, particularly among our nation’s native born, historically underrepresented ethnic groups.  Like GEM, our 2017 Conference offers innumerable opportunities for all of our partners as we celebrate 40 years of "Linking Exceptional Talent to Extraordinary Careers".

Why Attend?

Potential GEM Fellows will meet role models and learn about the benefits of graduate school in the STEM fields. Current GEM Fellows will explore future possibilities.  Members of our 4,000 person GEM Alumni Association (GAA) can connect with their peers.  University and Employer Members will not only gain perspectives on the organizational benefits of sponsoring or hiring GEM Fellows; they'll also become energized by the constellation of past, present and future Fellows in attendance.

 Who Should Attend?

The annual meeting is the access point to diverse graduate student talent and a forum to discuss issues that directly impact under-represented students pursuing graduate STEM degree.  Many can benefit from and add value to this post valuable event:

·         Current Undergraduate Juniors and Seniors - GRAD Lab*

·         Current graduate students and GEM Fellows - Future Faculty and Professional Symposium (FFP)*

·         GEM Alumni

·         University Representatives

·         Employer Representatives

·         Strategic Partners and Graduate STEM education supporters

Why Sponsor?

Contributing to 2017 Conference events will create greater awareness of the shortage of skilled talent in science and technology as well as highlight the importance of having a diverse workforce. For more than three decades GEM has connected highly qualified minority graduate students to a national network of more than 150 top-rated universities, government research facilities, and leading multinational corporations. GEM has done this by providing best in class programming that increases the retention and graduation rate of under-represented students.  If you are interested in sponsoring an event please send an email to info@gemfellowship.org.

If you’re in the STEM fields and want to have access to graduate level competitive talent, The National GEM Consortium 2017 Conference is a must attend event!

For our student registrants, note that we will be conducting our National Getting Ready for Advanced Degrees Laboratory (GRAD Lab) for undergraduates, and Future Faculty and Professional (FFP) Symposium, for GEM fellows and current graduate students.  For information on each program, click on the logo below:
